New Year's resolutions - update my website more often, and make it to Tokyo in the summer. Looking at my previous news items, you would be forgiven for thinking that not a lot happened last year. That couldn't be further from the truth, although it might also be part of the reason why I've not had any free time for admin! His name is Patrick and he was born on the 4th of May 2019, and quickly slotted into the role of chief sup...

The draw is put and Rory and I are number 27 which should mean a Thursday afternoon dressage. I am pretty happy with this, and also that we don’t have to wait around all day to go cross country. I like to watch a few go, but then get on with it!!

I am delighted to welcome a new sponsor to Team ACEventing this year - FLAIR Nasal Strips, which I have already been using for last few years and have been very impressed with. They help my horses breathe easier and perform at their best, by also reducing fatigue brought on by restricted oxygen flow to their muscles. Check out their website at  www.flairstrips.com

We headed off to Belton with four horses, hoping that the weather Gods would be kind! When we arrived we were towed into the lorry park and our hopes started to fade. However, the ground for the show jumping and cross country was amazing, and with sun forecast, it would only get better.

Bobby went amazingly, jumping his socks off and making the cross country feel like a BE90 to finish second in the Novice. He makes it so easy...

After more snow during the week, I was unable to ride for a few days and it was touch and go whether we would be able to get the lorry out to get to Norfolk, never mind whether the event would be able to run! We were pleasantly surprised when we got there and the ground and courses looked amazing.

The weekend started off great with Catherine Joice’s MJM Bobby Dazzler doing a brilliant double clear to finish 2nd in his first N...

Having not run in Portugal, I had to quickly reroute to other Spring events, and with its reputation for superb ground in March, we headed off to Great Witchingham with Master Rory - who had just had his Badminton entry accepted!- in the Open Intermediate, Celus D’Ermac Z in the Intermediate, Calling Card in the Novice HC as I was too late with his entry for the Intermediate, MJM Bobby Dazzler HC in the 100, and Homme D’Hotot...

My New Years resolution is to keep my website more up to date, so here goes!

Our season kicked off earlier than normal with a trip to Barroca D’Alva near Lisbon with four horses: Fernhill Adventure (Biscuit), Master Rory (Rory), Calling Card (Bond) and Celus D’Ermac Z (Celus). We escaped the heavy snow, but exchanged it for torrential rain for fourteen days solid! Not quite what we had in mind for the “Sunshine Tour”!!

It was f...

Hugo (Kings Advocate) continued his run of good form after his win at Weston Park with second place in the Open Intermediate at Hambleden, with an 18.6 (!!) dressage and double clear.

He has come on a lot in the last couple of months and now feels ready for the step up to Advanced which will hopefully happen at Chatsworth in May. It was a testing OI track at Hambleden but he made it feel easy and cruised around. Rienroe Luck...

Belton CIC*** is always a hotly contested class and this year was no exception.  It was our first Olympic Trial and with 125 of the World's best combinations it was always going to be an important marker in the lead up to Rio.

I could not have been happier with Fernhill Adventure.  I have always believed he is a world beater and a medal prospect, but it was nice to have it confirmed with a faultless performance showing his tru...

Jensen won his first Novice at Aston le Walls in convincing style with a 26 dressage and double clear.  He really does make it all feel so easy, and feels old beyond his 6years. I just wish he was bigger! At 5'8 he is just a touch too small for me but I am sure he will be a top class prospect for a smaller professional, or a Junior/Young Rider. He has no weak link and is a joy to ride. He will head to Whitfield next for anothe...
